Let's start this thread from scratch.
Should we have another thread "European Delivery FAQ"?
What is European Delivery Program?

Link to official Mercedes-Benz European Delivery Web site

Back in 2014, my friend J.Spira just published "Official Guide to European Delivery"

Many of you know that, every two years or so, I write a completely updated guide to European Delivery with a chart comparing all of the programs.
The 2014 edition was just published and looks at Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and Volvo.
A lot has changed in what the individual programs offer which will make the chart interesting reading as well.
Link to "The Official Guide to Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and Volvo European Delivery Programs"

Enjoy!

Benefits of the Delivery Program

By ordering a new Mercedes-Benz a few months in advance through the European Delivery Program, you?ll receive 7% off MSRP with no destination fee on select vehicles that will be built at the Mercedes-Benz factory in Sindelfingen and be ready for pickup upon your arrival. Before your departure, you can arrange your lease or financing and trade-in your existing model at your local Mercedes-Benz dealership so you can enjoy stress-free travel.

Other program benefits include:

 • 7% discount on total vehicle MSRP on eligible models
 • One night hotel accommodation in a luxurious hotel in Stuttgart
 • MBUSA travel assistance for hotel and airline reservations
 • Sindelfingen Factory Tour
 • Two tickets to Mercedes-Benz Museum
 • Fifteen (15) days of European road insurance
 • Vehicle transportation to the selected U.S. dealer
 • Breakfast or lunch at the Delivery Center
 • Two taxi coupons for ride from airport or main railroad station to the Delivery Center or hotel
 • Full tank of fuel
 • Marine Insurance
 • Destination charge is waived

While you must pick up your vehicle at the Mercedes-Benz factory in Sindelfingen, there are drop-off points throughout Europe where you can leave your vehicle so it?s waiting for you back in the U.S.

Deutsche-Alpenstrasse

Link to web site
Winding over 450 km / 280 miles from Lindau on Lake Constance to Sch?nau on Lake K?nigssee, the route enchants all from bikers to mobile-home travellers, to those with their roofs down. This fascinating route is full of variety: a rhythm of lush alpine meadows, soft rolling hills, towering mountain tops, thick green woods, romantic valleys and glistening lakes. As our way nestles amongst the quaint farming villages and historic towns, we discover the magnificent Bavarian Alps.

Lake K?nigsee

My friend Alex Chaban post this travel notes on his web site:

Place in which dreams may come true. A place that allows you to put the cycle of thoughts and events on pause ...
Here, time stops and you start to hear yourself in Echo echo, the expanding over the surface of a cold mountain lake ...

Practical information:

Lake K?nigsee - the lake is located in Bavaria (Germany), but it is 40-50 minutes drive from Salzburg, Austria. From Salzburg to go to Berchtesgaden (train or bus from the center of each hour):

Then there are two options:

1. The transfer to the railway station in Berchtesgaden'e the bus to Sch?nau am K?nigsee

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sch?nau_am_K?nigsee
http://www.koenigssee.com/

Go to the church 1 hour by boat.
Schedule here: http://www.seenschifffahrt.de/en/koenig ssee /

2. Or go to the "Eagle's Nest" - is the summer residence of Hitler. Located on the top of a mountain with a beautiful view.

Official Bimmerfest Neuschwanstein Castle Photo spot.

Many ED Bimmerfest members photograph their car in front of Neuschwanstein. Here are the directions to the photo spot ? so you can spend your time touring the castles instead of boring your wife or significant other looking for the perfect photo spot.

Basically, driving down the main road, you will see some open farm fields off to the right. There is a ?no traffic allowed? sign at the entrance to the street (Red circle with white center), but if you don?t drive too far no one seems to mind. Park near the tree at the fork in the road (three hundred meters from the main road) and photograph your car with the castle in the background.

Late afternoon is probably the best time for a shot. A polarizer filter is a good idea to bring the colors out in your paint job. Try to a long lens to help magnify the castle, or less of a telephoto of you want to emphasize the car.

Here are directions from the parking lot to the photo spot

Don't forget to post your photos here!

Plant Tours in Sindelfingen

The factory tour at Daimler AG's largest car production plant in the world offers a detailed insight into the fascinating world of vehicle manufacture: starting at the press shop, where the first parts are shaped, past the ballet dancing of the robots at the body shop, to the marriage of the vehicle body and powertrain in the assembly areas. In the logistics "supermarket" you can see how vehicle parts are lined up ready to be transported to the assembly lines, some of them by "Bertha" and "Gottlieb", two driverless transport systems.

Factory tours are offered from Monday to Friday. The meeting point is the Mercedes-Benz Customer Center: (K?sbr?nnlestra?e, 71059 Sindelfingen, Germany).

Dropping of the car at their new location near Terminal 1 of Nice Airport

Borrow from Audi ED Forum:
Here are the instructions TT Car Transit sent me for dropping of the car at their new location near Terminal 1 of Nice Airport.

ACCESS TO PARKING
? Go to Nice Cote d'Azur Airport, follow the Terminal 1.
? Continue straight on Terminal 1 following 'All Directions'
? Just before the drop-off (kiss & fly) turn left following 'P2 P3, T2; Nice'
? Turn left into the small roundabout, leave your car in the parking TT CAR TRANSIT code 1236A

ACCESS TO OFFICE
? Getting to our office area (by the door A1) facing the "lounge area welcome visitors" with key, docs of the car and passport.

The instructions were accurate. Thanks goes to my wife who went back outside to take these pictures while I did the drop off paperwork with TT Car Transit.

Here's the entry to TT Car Transit's parking area (bear to the right, after the left turn into the small roundabout).

You can see the Terminal 1 building in the background on the left. A staff member checks the car and makes notes of any scratches or dents. I ended up with a minor scuff mark in the rear bumper which I hope the dealer can polish off when they detail the car.

As you walk towards Terminal 1, you can see Door A1.

The dropoff paperwork is done at the TT Car Transit counter

Very frustrated to find a dealer who can provide help with European Delivery. So far Mercedes-Benz of Calabasas and Keyes European in Van Nuys shown me middle finger instead of help with European Delivery. Screw you, guys!!!
Salesman in Calabasa with proud of himself told me that he work there for 10 years and only few customers ask for European Delivery. Instead of learning something new that can bring him new customers he send me out to another dealership. Shmack!

lol, yeah you get lots of those salesman from Socal that are complete snobs. I remember one sales guy telling me that he doesn't bother dealing with CLA customers because they make very little on those cars.

It take more than one letter to MBZ Customer server until they contact Mercedes of Encino customer relation manager - she will work with us.
Another wow!!!! - MBZ Customer Service send me e-mail- because GLC assembled in USA - there are no European Delivery for this truck.

I send them picture of windows sticker with clearly state - assembled in Bremen, Germany, that I post here - next day - apology letter.
They do not know who they dealing with. I research every my vehicle and I bet that I knew more about GLC that average Joe in Mercedes of Calabasas.

Sept 2015 European Delivery Tips/Notes

With permition from Bimmerfest user bk000 I re-post his post here:

Hello all - just got back from a 2 week Germany/Austria trip with MB European Delivery.

I just wanted to post a few notes on potential problems that I didn't pick up on while doing my trip due diligence.

1.) Despite ordering your car 6-months in advance, your car may not be ready on your delivery day. I suspect MB probably doesn't put your build information into play until about 30-days prior to the delivery date.
2.) MB builds via the JIT (just in time) method so any last minute disruption in supply or delivery may delay your delivery.
3.) Since MB uses JIT assembly they won't know that they are going to miss your delivery date until 1 or 2 business days prior to your delivery date. You may already be on a plane or have started your trip prior to knowing that your car will not be available. We were notified on Thursday evening that our Monday delivery would not be possible.
4.) MB will give you a high-end "loaner" car to use. My wife purchased a 2016 E400 cabriolet. MB gave her an SL65 AMG (V12) to use during her trip (made packing a little tricky for our 2-week trip). MB gave her the option of keeping the SL65 for the entirety of her holiday and having her car shipped to the states immediately -or- she could use the SL65 until her car was available and they would drive her car to wherever she was staying at the time and exchange the cars there. My wife chose the 2nd option and received her car at the Parkhotel Adler at 8pm 2-days later with 200+/- miles on her new car as it had to be driven there.
5.) Taking a loaner car and then exchanging the loaner for your own car screws up the drop off. You will not have your car's paper work to give to the In/Out delivery service office in Sindelfingen. However, you should still go and meet with them while you are in Sindelfingen. MB told us not to worry about it but this was wrong information which lead to many phone calls.

Post mortem - why was the car delayed and what I could have done differently:
1.) The E Cab is not assembled in Sindelfingen. It's assembled in Bremen and has to be shipped to the delivery center. (S cars, AMG GTs, and E sedans are produced at the delivery center).
2.) We were aware of the German holidays in August but not in September and did not know how this could impact the delivery. There are rolling 2-week holidays by region. North is the first 2-weeks of August, Central is the last 2-weeks, and South (Bavaria) is the first 2-weeks of September. What this means is that big rigs (tractor-trailer rigs) are not allowed on the highways during the weekends within the regions experiencing the holiday. This is due to holiday traffic (many people pulling camping trailers, etc.). So the car was delayed a day due to assembly and cascaded to another 1-day delay because it could not be transported to Sindelfingen on Saturday and thus missed the Monday delivery.

Things to do differently:
1.) if you're taking delivery of a car not assembled in Sindelfingen, take delivery on any day but Monday - you should also build in another 1 or 2 days of flexibility into your schedule around the delivery date, if possible. If you're taking delivery of a car assembled in Sindelfingen you will probably be ok.
2.) be mentally prepared to accept a loaner car.

Other notes:
1.) Hotel Am Schlossgarten - Stuttgart which is one of the hotels MB will pay for while in Stuttgart. I do not recommend staying here. This was the worst hotel of the trip. Nice staff but the rooms were not good. The hotel restaurant has one Michelin star but that did not make up for the room.
2.) Stuttgart is not a pretty city. We went to the MB museum (it's ok) but didn't make it to the Porsche museum. You might consider staying in another nicer city within an hour's drive of Sindelfingen and arrange a private transfer to the delivery center. Yes, it's that bad.
3.) If you like to drive awesome roads try to stay several days at both the Parkhotel Adler (in the black forest) and the Interalpen Hotel (in the Austria Alps) - both are MB hotels. There are some great driving roads in both these areas that need to be explored.
4.) We researched hotels for parking and had really good luck with these:
- Heidelberg Suites (Heidelberg)- awesome hotel on the river with views of the castle. Very nice but uncovered secured parking at the hotel.
-Parkhotel Adler (Black Forest): Has parking garage.
-Interalpen Hotel: Has awesome parking garage and assigned parking spaces. Cool hotel - looks cheesy online like a swinging 70's place but it's not. It's quirky and cool.
-Villa Ludwig Hotel (Fussen/Schwangau/Newschwanstein Castle): Awesome hotel with an awesome parking garage. Units are new and have views of the castle. Walk to Hotel Muller for dinner.
-Hotel Sacher (Salzburg) - I recommend. On river with views of the Castle.
-Hotel Imperial (Vienna) - I do not recommend. I would recommend the Hotel Sacher in Vienna instead. However, we saw Niki Lauda here at Hotel Imperial. He either stays here a bunch or has an ownership interest in the hotel because you can get the "Niki Lauda Breakfast" - it's on the menu. He was driving an AMG GT V12 - parked right up front of course.
-Bayerishcer Hof in Munich - Good underground garage. However, I think there are better options in Munich.
5.) We ended the trip at the Bayerischer Hof in Munich to take advantage of not having to deliver the car to an In/Out location. They will come pick the car up from the parking garage here. Hotel is a 5-star but its 25th place ranking on trip advisor is rightly deserved. There are better hotels in Munich for the money.

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right thread to post this into. Apologies if it is not.
I have ordered my GLC 250 in September (in Portugal, by the way) and the sales guy said I would not probably have it before July / August 2017. He also said this lead time could be drastically reduced but that he would not have any information about it before Jan 2017.
I suspect this has to do with the MB subcontracted production line in Finland (Valmet - Uusikaupunki) be ready and rolling.
Does anyone have more info about this ? Any thoughts ?
Thanks.

Hi, and congratulation for your order.
Time frame your sales gay told you sound way to long to me.
If I was your - I will find out phone number for Mercedes customer service in Portugal - and made a call.
And if they do not know - call Germany headquarters. 11 month waiting - this is unbelievable.
You was right - this is wrong thread - but it's OK - you looking for answers - at list I can give you my opinion.
Tell me them that you really consider to cancel your order and switch to Audi or BMW. Also mention to write about your experience or Mercedes forum. [thumbdown]

Hi MB330,
Many thanks for your suggestions. I will get back to the salesman and check if he's got any positive update. Otherwise I will start escalating this to MB Germany. I really wouldn't like to change to Audi or BMW.

You will say this phrase to customer service representative only. If they buy it - good for you.
